The Columbiana Public Library Board of Trustees is announcing a vacant seat on the Board.

The Library Board of Trustees will review applications, hold interviews, and make a recommendation to the Columbiana Board of Education, which will make the appointment.  Applicants must live in the Columbiana Village School District.

Assistant Fiscal Officer

Reports to: Fiscal Officer/Board of Trustees
Hours: Part time @ 10-15 hr/week
Wage: Commensurate with Experience

Under the direction of the Board of Trustees, the Director/Fiscal Officer, the Assistant Fiscal Officer is responsible for the accounting of all library funds and ensures that all financial operations comply with the statues of the State of Ohio, Ohio Revised Code, the directives of the Auditor of the State of Ohio, and the policies and decisions of the Columbiana Public Library Board of Trustees.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
Accounting
· Prepares and issues payables by check, or electronically on time; disburses/mails accounts payable checks; posts and balances accounts payable items to appropriate account
· Prepares purchase orders; monitors individual cost accounts for budget balances; transfers account balances as directed by the Board; verifies invoices against purchase orders; resolves discrepancies; encumbers necessary funds
· Reconciles bank statements monthly
· Monitors certificate of deposits and savings accounts
· Prepares annual financial report for the State Auditor’s office through the UAN system and documents required by the County Auditor

Payroll
· Processes OPERS, Deferred Compensation, OJFS, Worker’s Compensation and other related personnel reports
· Processes and verifies payroll
· Remits payroll contributions, deductions and taxes, as required to federal, state and local government agencies

General
· Attends monthly Board of Trustees meetings and other meetings as required
· Acts as secretary of the Board, taking notes and preparing minutes
· Prepares and presents monthly financial reports to the Board and Director showing revenues, payments, receipts, cash journals, etc.
· Works with Library Director/Fiscal Officer to gather data to prepare and present annual tax budgets, annual financial reports, appropriation budgets, long-term financial projections and specialized budgets
· Prepares and Submits monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as necessary to state, county, or local officials
· Collaborates with County Budget Committee, County Prosecutor’s Office, Auditor of State’s Offices, vendors and contractors on behalf of the Library
· Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed by the Board of Trustees, Director or required by law

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Personal Characteristics
· Must be familiar with applicable sections of the Ohio Revised Code
· A degree in business management or accounting is preferred
· Proficiency in use of automated financial data processing systems (Uniform Accounting Network [UAN] preferred)
· Proficiency in use of computers and Microsoft Excel
· Understanding of generally accepted government fund accounting principals
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively, orally and in writing
· Experience with Payroll and financial record keeping requirements
· Must meet bonding requirements by a board-approved agency
· Must be able to work both independently and as a team member

Building & Grounds Maintenance

Reports to: Library Director
Hours: Full Time 40 hrs/week
Wage: Commensurate with experience

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of our building and outdoor spaces. This role provides custodial and maintenance duties in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment for the staff and public.

This role requires a combination of landscaping skills, and mechanical knowledge. This role will ensure that our building, equipment and grounds are well-kept, safe, and inviting.

Illustrative examples of work

  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns to ensure a neat appearance.
  • Utilize hand tools and equipment for various grounds keeping activities.
  • Care for trees and shrubs through pruning, planting, and disease management.
  • Operate machinery such as lawn mowers, blowers, and other mechanical equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor the condition of the grounds and report any issues or necessary repairs to management
  • Dust, wipe and clean furnishings, shelves and walls; vacuum, sweep, mop or spot clean floors; empty wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs
  • Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms using established practices
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows and glass doors. Clean blinds
  • Set-up Salchow Room for meetings, programs and other activities
  • Feeds the fish and cleans the aquarium when needed
  • Makes coffee and keeps the café area stocked and neat
  • Use and maintain hand tools, power equipment and grounds equipment
  • Keep adequate supply of cleaning equipment, materials and supplies on hand
  • Snow and ice management from all surfaces
  • Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs in building
  • Responds and reports all emergency calls
  • Reports all major repairs required and safety and fire hazards to the Director
  • Observes safety standards and practices
  • Attends and gives report at monthly board meetings
  • Puts up and take down seasonal decorations, as directed
  • Performs related duties as requested

Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintenance and grounds keeping.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge related to the operation of landscaping and building equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and cleaning methods and procedures
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations in connection with chemicals, ladders, tools, electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Experience with tree care practices is a plus.
  • Skill and ability to make minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools effectively and safely.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in various weather conditions.
  • Skill and ability to understand oral and written instructions
