In May 2025, the Columbiana Public Library was awarded a $10,000 Libraries Transform Communities (LTC) Grant from the American Library Association. The LTC: Accessible Small and Rural Communities grants were designed to aid small and rural libraries in increasing the accessibility of facilities, services, and programs to better serve people with disabilities.
With the funding, the library has been able to develop All Abilities Club – a new program series designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In our All Abilities Club, we explore new topics each month ranging from arts and crafts, mental health, exercise, cooking, and music. We happily take requests and recommendations for topics and activities.
Two identical sessions are held each month, one in the morning and one in the evening, to accommodate caregivers’ schedules. We typically hold one Friday session at 11:00 AM and one Tuesday session at 6:00 PM. While the programs are identical, attendees are permitted to attend both sessions.
During the programs, we invite and encourage caregivers to stay and join in on the fun! During registrations for the programs, please make sure to include caregivers if they plan on participating to ensure enough supplies are available. However, some individuals may prefer for All Abilities Club to be a time for them to engage and participate without their caregiver present.
If an attendee has any accommodations that the library can help provide, please let us know! Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming space for each individual that comes through our doors. Please provide any allergy information as well since some programs may involve food.
