Makerspace

Our Makerspace is officially open and ready for use!

Before use, we ask that all patrons stop by the Circulation Desk and sign our Makerspace User Agreement form.

Do I need an appointment?

If you need assistance with your project, we do require appointments to be made with our Technology Trainer or Technology Coordinator. These appointments allow us to reserve the time to work with you one-on-one as we create your project.

However, our 3D printer, laser engraver, and sublimation printer require staff assistance. Appointments must be made by calling the library or visiting our website.

What if I can’t make it during the appointment times?

If you are struggling to make it to our appointment times, please call the library and ask to speak with the Technology Trainer or Technology Coordinator. We will do our best to find a time that will work for both of us!

You can also wait and see if we will be offering Open Maker Lab times. These are set hours where staff will be present in the Makerspace to assist with projects.

Do I need to bring materials?

Yes! While the library will provide certain materials (at a cost), we do recommend bringing your own materials to work with. What you need to bring will depend on the equipment you are using and the project you are creating. Contact the Technology Trainer or Technology Coordinator to ask about specific material you’ll need for your project.

For example, if you are planning to use the Cricut, we recommend bringing your own vinyl, paper, or other material to cut as well as your blank project. The library will provide sticky mats, weeding tools, and the heat presses (and parchment paper if using HTV). The library does have limited quantities of adhesive vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, and blank projects for the costs listed below, but we cannot guarantee the availability of what you would like.

For sublimation, materials purchased must be sublimation-grade in order for the dye transfer to work properly. It is recommended to have fabric be a high polyester count and hard materials to have a poly-coating.

For laser engraving, please visit our laser engraving page for a list of accepted materials.
